Ed O`Reilly on Health Care
Democratic Senate Challenger
|
First-rate healthcare is a fundamental and basic right
I support single payer health care, the efforts of Physicians for a National Health program, the principles of Roe v. Wade, and the strongest privacy laws relative to patient confidentiality. I also support stem cell research, all mental health services,
reasonable staffing and work schedules for health care workers, and believe that Hospice Care should be fully funded. Finally, I oppose federal spending cuts in HIV/AIDS programs, and urge increases in spending and outreach.

More federal funding as a step towards single payer system
Q: Do you support the VoteMatch statement, “More federal funding for health coverage”?A: Yes, but I think health care delivery is just as important, if not more so.
Q: What do you think of the new Massachusetts healthcare system as a national
model?
A: It is a step in the right direction in terms of universal health care, but I favor a single payer system.
